Foldable iPhone enters testing phase
Apple’s foldable iPhone enters prototype testing – Launch expected in 2026
The long-anticipated foldable iPhone is becoming a reality. According to a report from Digitimes, the device entered prototype testing last month. Supply chain sources claim that Apple already has a fully functioning prototype of its first foldable phone.
The prototype testing phase is expected to conclude by the end of this year, after which the device will enter the Engineering Verification Test (EVT) stage. If all goes smoothly, Apple may unveil it alongside the iPhone 18 series in September 2026.
The report also notes that Apple has paused development of its foldable iPad, citing production challenges and low consumer interest.
According to recent leaks, the foldable iPhone is expected to feature a 7.8-inch Samsung OLED display, under-display camera, side-mounted Touch ID, and no Face ID. It may come with an “almost invisible” crease and measure only 9–9.5mm thick when folded.
Apple plans to use a titanium alloy frame and a liquid metal hinge, offering unrivaled durability. As expected, this premium device will likely launch in the $2,100–$2,300 price range.
