Live Translation on Apple AirPods is finally coming to Europe

Apple is preparing to roll out its Live Translation feature for AirPods users across the European Union. The company confirmed that the update will arrive with iOS 26.2 in December 2025, bringing one of the most anticipated features of recent years to European users. The rollout had been delayed due to technical adjustments and compliance with EU regulations.

With this feature, owners of AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Pro 3, and AirPods 4 (ANC) will be able to enjoy real-time translation during conversations. If both speakers are wearing compatible AirPods, each can speak in their native language, and the translation will be delivered instantly. If the other person isn’t using AirPods, the translation will appear as text on the iPhone screen through the Translate app.

To use Live Translation, devices must run iOS 26 or later and have Apple Intelligence enabled. At launch, supported languages will include English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional).

According to Apple, the delay in the EU was mainly due to ensuring compliance with the Digital Markets Act (DMA), which requires companies like Apple to adapt certain software functions for fair competition within the region.

Currently, the feature is being tested by developers, and a public beta will soon follow. The official release is planned for December.

Apple describes Live Translation as a major step toward breaking language barriers. For users, it could transform the way they communicate while traveling, working, or meeting people from different linguistic backgrounds.
