Apple unveils its most powerful processor yet: M3 Ultra
Apple has officially announced its fastest and most powerful chip, the M3 Ultra. With a 32-core CPU, it delivers enhanced AI, graphics, and processing power.
A 32-Core Performance Monster
The M3 Ultra features 24 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores, making it a 32-core powerhouse. According to Apple, the M3 Ultra is 1.5x faster than the M2 Ultra and 1.8x faster than the M1 Ultra. The 80-core GPU offers 2x the graphics performance of the M2 Ultra and 2.6x that of the M1 Ultra.
The advanced graphics architecture supports dynamic caching, hardware-accelerated mesh shading, and ray tracingfor demanding workloads and gaming.
AI and Machine Learning Capabilities
With a 32-core Neural Engine, 800 GB/s memory bandwidth, and on-device LLM support, the M3 Ultra enables advanced AI and machine learning tasks.
Up to 512GB Unified Memory
M3 Ultra supports configurations from 96GB to 512GB of RAM, allowing seamless 3D rendering, visual effects, and AI processing.
Thunderbolt 5 & UltraFusion Technology
Thunderbolt 5 offers 120 GB/s data transfer speeds, twice the bandwidth of Thunderbolt 4. The UltraFusion packaging links two M3 Max dies with over 10,000 signals, ensuring a 2.5 TB/s interconnect bandwidth.
Media & Display Support
The M3 Ultra's media engine can handle 22 simultaneous 8K ProRes 422 video streams, while its display engine supports up to 8 Pro Display XDR monitors.
