Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, unveiled a generative AI tool that allows users to modify nearly every aspect of their videos using text commands. In a video announcement, Mosseri revealed that these editing tools will be powered by Meta’s Movie Gen AI model and will roll out in 2025.
Mosseri also shared a sneak peek of the AI-based editing tool. According to the preview, AI can seamlessly modify every detail in a video (clothing, background, overall appearance). Impressively, even with Mosseri’s rapid arm and face movements, there were no lags or glitches. However, it’s worth noting that this is an early preview, and it remains uncertain if the final version will deliver the same performance for all users.
When Meta introduced Movie Gen AI in October, the model was described as capable of creating videos and sounds from simple text inputs and editing existing videos. However, Meta had clarified that the AI-powered video creator wouldn’t be publicly available. Today’s announcement indicates that Meta will leverage this model to provide more advanced AI editing tools to Instagram content creators.
