According to forecasts, Apple is set to overtake Samsung as the market leader

Apple Expected to Overtake Samsung in Smartphone Shipments in 2025

According to recent forecasts, Apple is projected to surpass Samsung in global smartphone shipments in 2025, reclaiming the top position for the first time since 2011.

Research indicates that Apple is expected to ship approximately 243 million iPhones throughout the year, while Samsung’s estimated shipments stand at around 235 million units. This would give Apple a 19.4% share of the global market, compared to Samsung’s 18.7%.

Analysts attribute Apple’s growth to several key factors:

  • strong demand for the new iPhone 17 lineup,

  • a wave of device replacements following the pandemic-era purchase cycle,

  • overall expansion of the global smartphone market.

Experts also note that Apple’s rise may extend beyond 2025. Current projections suggest that the company could maintain its lead through 2029, solidifying its dominant position in the smartphone industry.

These developments mark a new chapter in the long-standing rivalry between Apple and Samsung, signaling a significant shift in the global smartphone landscape.
