Apple’s touchscreen MacBook Pro is coming this year
Apple is expected to unveil several new devices next week, including a new entry-level MacBook model (J700) and updated MacBook Pros powered by the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. However, the Mac lineup updates for the year may not stop there.
According to a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple could finally introduce the long-rumored touchscreen MacBook Pro models toward the end of 2026. The company is said to be developing 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros internally codenamed K114 and K116. If accurate, this would mark a major shift for Apple, which has historically resisted bringing touchscreens to Mac laptops.
The report also suggests these Macs could offer separate interface modes optimized for touch and for traditional cursor-based input. In a touch-optimized mode, macOS may display additional menus and context-aware actions around the user’s touch points to make touch interaction more practical.
Beyond touch support, the upcoming MacBook Pros are also rumored to feature OLED displays. Another notable claim is the possible addition of a smaller “Dynamic Island”-style cutout at the top center of the display, reportedly using a punch-hole-like design.
