Google is revamping AI Mode — “Personal Intelligence” is coming!

Google is continuing to upgrade Search’s AI Mode, making it more personalized and useful for everyday situations. The company has introduced a new feature called “Personal Intelligence,” designed to help AI Mode better understand a user’s needs and deliver more accurate, relevant answers. In practice, Google is moving beyond traditional search results and turning AI Mode into a smarter assistant that can work with personal context.

With Personal Intelligence, users can connect certain Google services to AI Mode. For now, the supported apps include Gmail and Google Photos. If a user chooses to enable it, AI Mode can use relevant information from those services to provide more helpful recommendations. For example, it can create better travel suggestions based on flight confirmations, hotel bookings, or event details found in Gmail. Similarly, content from Google Photos can help the system understand a user’s preferences and suggest suitable locations or activity ideas.

This approach can be especially valuable for planning tasks. When users ask questions like “Where should I go this weekend?” or “Build me a travel itinerary,” AI Mode can go beyond generic suggestions and offer recommendations that better match the user’s real plans and interests. Google says this makes the overall search experience more practical and truly personalized.

Privacy is also a key part of the update. Google emphasizes that the feature works on an opt-in basis, meaning it only activates if the user enables it. Users can disconnect the linked services or turn the feature off at any time, keeping full control over their settings.

It’s worth noting that the rollout is limited for now. Personal Intelligence is being introduced gradually and is currently available in the US, in English, as part of the Search Labs experiment. Access is available to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers, suggesting Google is testing the feature with a smaller audience first.

Overall, Personal Intelligence is a major step toward a more context-aware search experience, where AI Mode evolves from a simple feature into a tool that can better adapt to each individual user.
