iPhone 18 gets more powerful: 12GB LPDDR5X RAM confirmed.

According to new reports, Apple plans to increase the memory capacity of its upcoming iPhone 18 series. The company is expected to equip all models with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, marking one of the most significant memory upgrades in iPhone history. This move aims to enhance the device’s ability to handle on-device AI tasks more efficiently and deliver a notable performance boost.

Currently, the base iPhone 17 models feature 8GB of RAM. Raising this to 12GB in the new generation will ensure smoother and faster performance for Apple Intelligence features. Reportedly, Apple has ordered millions of 10nm LPDDR5X DRAM chips from Samsung, which offer both better energy efficiency and faster data transfer speeds.

According to South Korea’s “The Bell,” all iPhone 18 models will use the same RAM technology, meaning the gap between base and Pro versions will narrow significantly. As a result, the iPhone 18 will compete more closely with leading Android flagships in multitasking and overall performance.

The upgraded RAM is also said to play a key role in Apple Intelligence, allowing the devices to perform AI-driven tasks—such as text editing, image analysis, and voice assistance—entirely offline, without relying on cloud servers.

While Apple has not officially confirmed this information, reliable sources suggest the leak is highly credible. The iPhone 18 series is expected to be officially unveiled in the fall of 2025.
